The "Yes man's" Education System

“In the twenty-first century, we use a nineteenth-century school model with twentieth-century values. There’s clearly something wrong with this picture.”                                                                                                         - Zander Sherman   [ The Curiosity of School: Education  and the Dark Side of Enlightenment ]                     I hope so most of my readers would have seen the above picture already. This unfair education system is followed by us since the 1820s. This type of education system was introduced in India by the British because they want us just to study their language for easy communication and not for any other reason. They hod intentionally made us practice this type of education system so that no fellow would improve the knowledge of raising questions.               Years gone by, Governments changed but the education system remains the same. Due to this old method students don't have the freedom of studying stuff of their own

Easy way to improve your language

"So please, oh please, we beg, we pray,

Go throw your TV set away,

And in its place, you can install

A lovely bookshelf on the wall.

Then fill the shelves with lots of books."

                                                                    - Roald Dahl

If you have read the above-mentioned quote said by one of the famous British novelists then you could predict what I'm going to say. Yes, it's all about reading.

Just have a look at the above photo. It was a great period of time when everyone begins their day with a newspaper every day. In the present day how many of you read the newspaper or at least beware of what's happening around you? It's always good, to begin with, your day like this because it not only improves your general knowledge but also your vocabulary.

Look what these children are doing. They enjoyed their days by reading beautiful stories with lots of interesting characters which inculcated good creativity skills inside the children. They had the chances to read books when nature also was in its purest form.

"Readers become great leaders". Yes, this is a fact which you can see even today. Simple examples are Dr A P J Abdul Kalam sir, Warren Buffet, Bill Gates, Barack Obama, C N Annadurai, M K Gandhi, Winston Churchill, Jawaharlal Nehru, Martin Luther King, J K Rowling and the list goes on.

How to inculcate reading habit?

Like all other tasks you have in your routine reading also is a very easy one if you believe you can. Don't bundle up reading lots of pages in your initial days, just have a slow start with fiction books. I specify here fiction books because it has lots of ups and downs & twist and turns like movies. Start your reading career with small books (books with fewer pages) because when you do this your mind will have the satisfaction that you have read one book successfully. After some days start small novels written by authors like Charles Dickens, Chetan Bhagat, R K Narayan, John Grisham etc. If you start these books then try to read at least 30 - 40 pages a day so that you can finish reading a book in 10 - 12 days. Like this, you can give yourself a good kick start for a great career.

Some facts on great leaders who are leaders

  • Warren Buffet reads 500 pages a day.
  • Bill Gates reads 30 books every year.
  • Jawaharlal Nehru said he steals time from his sleep and read books.
  • C N Annadurai once need to undergo major surgery, he asked his doctor whether he will be alive after that major surgery. The doctor asked why are you asking a question like this. Mr Annadurai replied I'm reading a book now, if I'm dead I'll not able to complete the book, so if you say I'll complete reading the book this night.

Letter writing πŸ’“

How many of know to write a letter? If reading helps to improve your general knowledge and vocabulary skills, you can showcase them only by either speaking or writing. I love writing a letter rather than texting because when you write a letter you will have a special feeling that what would reply for which you have to wait for somedays. I request you to write letters for your friends or your family members at least during some special occasions like their birthdays or wedding anniversary. The letter that you give can't be deleted and can be saved throughout their life.
