The "Yes man's" Education System

“In the twenty-first century, we use a nineteenth-century school model with twentieth-century values. There’s clearly something wrong with this picture.”

                                                                                            - Zander Sherman

[ The Curiosity of School: Education
and the Dark Side of Enlightenment ]

I hope so most of my readers would have seen the above picture already. This unfair education system is followed by us since the 1820s. This type of education system was introduced in India by the British because they want us just to study their language for easy communication and not for any other reason. They hod intentionally made us practice this type of education system so that no fellow would improve the knowledge of raising questions.

Years gone by, Governments changed but the education system remains the same. Due to this old method students don't have the freedom of studying stuff of their own interest. Our education system doesn't teach how to gain knowledge, it just teaches how to pass examinations with high scores so that we can be a great employee who is paid a high salary. Nobody thinks out of this box.

Let's see a small example, see the people in the below picture.

What could you see? All these great people are CEOs of top companies in the world. As I already said our education system has successfully trained these great people to become great employees instead of making them great business magnet or startup or
entrepreneur. Just think a moment if all these people have the ability to govern the company and take it to great heights why can't they do it in our country and take our country to a great height.

The major problem in India is people's mentality on education is that education means just academics, but the bitter truth is that academics are just a small part of education. Other than academics one individual can score in his own area of interests like sports, arts, literature etc.

In India, another problem is that many parents force children after their grade 10 to take science group. This is mainly because if their children study in commerce group he/she is a dull student and if their children study in science group he/she is a bright student (I am sorry to have this statement saying bad about commerce group, but still our people are not matured to understand the modern world). All studies all equal if a science student takes the country to a great height by his/her new innovation and a commerce student will help to sort out the economic problems of a country.

Other than India, students have to choose the subjects in which they are interested. They have a lot of time to make research in which area they are interested. But here the student is not given any options, they have to do what all others are doing. If a fellow gets a good score in History but manages to pass in Mathematics, he will be considered as a dull student in India and pressure him to study always Mathematics due to which he ultimately losses his interest in studying any subject.

One of the major problems in India is that there are lots of education patterns followed like each state has its own. If we have one single unit governing education like for in the whole of the country only government should run schools, if any trust or individual wants to run schools or colleges they would be just a part but government will be the head of it (like how USA, UK, Germany, Finland and other countries do). Education should be made free for all. With just 7% GST if Singapore can provide free education and medications for its citizen, then by taxing 18% GST why can't the Indian Government do it? Our country has all wealth within it and it should be for us first. In India, all students must compulsorily be taught about self-development skill which is lagged by almost 90% of Indian students.

One last point is that if education is still seen in our country as good business instead of service then I can guarantee we will only produce "Yes Man" graduates. Think wise people, if we join hands we can win. It's all in our hands.

  3. Good write up and thoughts. You will have to think also about the population of our country and literacy rate of people in the rural areas. For some of the people only a formal school education can give them the knowledge. But nevertheless a huge change is required in our system.
